Transaction Explainer

Free · No wallet required · Ethereum & Base

Understand any crypto transaction.

Paste an Ethereum or Base transaction hash and see what actually happened in plain English — transfers, swaps, approvals, wallet impact, and gas fees.

Paste a valid hash to explain automatically. Changing the network reloads the same hash on that chain.

What Transaction Explainer shows

Built for people who use crypto but do not want to decode logs, calldata, or explorer screens full of contract addresses.

  • Plain-English summaries

Get a clear explanation of what a transaction did — transfers, swaps, claims, approvals, or contract interactions — without reading raw blockchain data.

  • Token transfers & swaps

See which tokens moved, how much was sent or received, and whether a transaction looks like a swap based on wallet token flow.

  • Token permissions

Detect ERC-20 approvals and explain which contract received spending permission, including unlimited allowances when relevant.

  • Wallet impact

Understand what left and entered the initiating wallet in one place, so the net effect of the transaction is easy to follow.

  • Network fees

View the actual gas fee paid for the transaction in ETH, calculated from gas used and effective gas price.

  • Shareable result links

Every explanation has a shareable URL for Ethereum or Base, so you can revisit or send a transaction breakdown to someone else.

How it works

  1. 1

    Paste a transaction hash

Choose Ethereum or Base, then enter a completed transaction hash starting with 0x.

  2. 2

    We read the on-chain activity

The app fetches the transaction and receipt, then parses token transfers, approvals, native value, and gas.

  3. 3

    Get a plain-English explanation

See a clear summary first, with wallet impact, transfers, permissions, and technical details available underneath.

About Transaction Explainer

Transaction Explainer turns complex blockchain activity into clear, human-readable summaries. Instead of digging through calldata, logs, and contract addresses, paste a transaction hash and see what tokens moved, what was approved, what you sent or received, and how much network fee was paid.

Blockchain explorers are powerful, but they are designed for technical users. Transaction Explainer focuses on one job: help anyone understand a finished transaction quickly, then optionally dig into the details.

Supported networks

  • Ethereum Mainnet
  • Base Mainnet

What we do not do

  • No wallet connection
  • No transaction signing
  • No safety or scam scoring
  • No portfolio tracking

Frequently asked questions

What networks does Transaction Explainer support?+

Version 0.1 supports Ethereum Mainnet and Base Mainnet. Paste a completed transaction hash from either network to get an explanation.

Do I need to connect a wallet?+

No. Transaction Explainer only analyzes completed on-chain transactions. There is no wallet connection, signing, or transaction simulation.

Is this a blockchain explorer?+

It is complementary to explorers like Etherscan and BaseScan. Explorers show technical details; Transaction Explainer focuses on a plain-English summary of what happened.

Does it tell me if a transaction is safe?+

No. It helps you understand activity such as transfers, approvals, and fees. It does not determine whether a token, contract, or protocol is safe.

Transaction Explainer helps make blockchain activity easier to understand. It does not determine whether a transaction, token, contract, or protocol is safe.
